The Book of Knowledge
باب مَنْ سَنَّ سُنَّةً حَسَنَةً أَوْ سَيِّئَةً وَمَنْ دَعَا إِلَى هُدًى أَوْ ضَلاَلَةٍ
The One Who Starts Something Good Or Something Bad; The One Who Calls Others To Guidance Or Misguidance
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي، إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ هِلاَلٍ الْعَبْسِيُّ، قَالَ قَالَ جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لاَ يَسُنُّ عَبْدٌ سُنَّةً صَالِحَةً يُعْمَلُ بِهَا بَعْدَهُ ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ تَمَامَ الْحَدِيثِ
Jarir b. 'Abdullah reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The servant does not introduce good practice which is followed after him.... The rest of the hadith is the same.
