The Book of Prayer
وَلَهُ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ: { ثَلَاثُ سَاعَاتٍ كَانَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -يَنْهَانَا أَنْ نُصَلِّي فِيهِنَّ, وَأَنْ 1 نَقْبُرَ فِيهِنَّ مَوْتَانَا: حِينَ تَطْلُعُ اَلشَّمْسُ بَازِغَةً حَتَّى تَرْتَفِعَ, وَحِينَ يَقُومُ قَائِمُ اَلظَّهِيرَةِ حَتَّى تَزُولَ 2 اَلشَّمْسُ, وَحِينَ تَتَضَيَّفُ 3 اَلشَّمْسُ لِلْغُرُوبِ } 4 .1 - في مسلم: "أو أن".2 - في مسلم: "تميل" .3 - في مسلم: "تتضيف". وهي بمعنى "تميل" .4 - صحيح. رواه مسلم (831). و "قائم الظهيرة": أي قيام الشمس وقت الزوال، وذلك عند بلوغها وسط السماء فإنها عند ذلك يبطئ حركتها.
'Uqbah bin 'Aamir (RA) narrated: "There are three times at which Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to forbid us to pray or bury our dead: (a) when the sun begins to rise till it is fully up, (b) when the sun is at its height at midday till it passes the meridian, and (c) when the sun draws near to setting till it sets." .
