If the narrators agree in terms of:
- The wording used to narrate the ḥadīth[1]
- Other than it from the cases of words[2]
- Actions[3]
- Characteristics[4]
Then this is termed a musalsal[5] ḥadīth.
[1] Such as all narrators saying سمعت فلان قال سمعت فلان
[2] Like narrators saying: سمعت فلانا يقول أشهد بالله لقد حدثني فلانا to the end of the chain.
[3] Like entering upon a narrator who feeds dates and then narrates the ḥadīth, or a mixture of actions and words such as a man narrated to me whilst he was holding his beard and said: I believe in predestination, until the end of the chain.
[4] Such as narrations only being narrated by fuqaḥā, ḥuffādh or old men.
[5] Literally; serial, sequence.
