Musalsal

If the narrators agree in terms of:

  1. The wording used to narrate the ḥadīth[1]
  2. Other than it from the cases of words[2]
  3. Actions[3]
  4. Characteristics[4]

Then this is termed a musalsal[5] ḥadīth.

[1] Such as all narrators saying سمعت فلان قال سمعت فلان

[2] Like narrators saying: سمعت فلانا يقول أشهد بالله لقد حدثني فلانا to the end of the chain.

[3] Like entering upon a narrator who feeds dates and then narrates the ḥadīth, or a mixture of actions and words such as a man narrated to me whilst he was holding his beard and said: I believe in predestination, until the end of the chain.

[4] Such as narrations only being narrated by fuqaḥā, ḥuffādh or old men.

[5] Literally; serial, sequence.
